Most of my writing is created and shaped in collaboration, and it is one of the ways I love to work. The main co-creator of my writing is the more-than-human, and habitats I return to: writing in place, outdoors, on and underwater, and in-situ with my subjects, making poems alongside the species I'm writing about, foregrounded with scientific research, and informed by conservationists.
I've been lucky enough to work with a number of scientists. One of my long-term collaborators is ecologist, teacher and writer, Eve Annecke, who co-founded Lynedoch EcoVillage and the Sustainability Institute in South Africa. Since 2020, I've been part of a writers group with Hannah Lowe, Richard Scott and Will Harris. We named ourselves Faces as we began in Lockdown, postage-stamp sized on Zoom.
For over 15 years, I've been collaborating with dancers, choreographers, composers, light and media artists, making poetry-dance pieces that tour nationally and have been shortlisted for The Samuel Beckett Theatre Award. Some of the pieces are below and have involved site-specific writing and performances in caves and underground spaces, in natural history museums, galleries and Literary houses including Keats House and The Richard Jefferies Museum.
